New York State Of Mind.

TOTALLY obsessed with the New York Skyeline Swimsuit by Black Milk for their line Nylon Wars Part 1.

You will be surprised to know I do not actually own any Black Milk as of yet, I think I was kind of turned off them for a bit with everyone jumping on the Black Milk bandwagon, and a galaxy patterned bandwagon at that.
But with my love for photographic prints and New York being so strong... I may have to give in.

I have had a busy week, but even then I have been I managed to squeeze in a few films.

I recently watched Lords Of Dogtown, a movie about the revolution of skateboarding in the 70s, which was amazing. I have seen The Dark Knight Rises twice in one week as it is so awesome, watched two indie movies, Submarine and Restless, caught a screening of Magic Mike (Helllooooooo Alcide from True Blood), and had a go at one of my favorite genres, period romantic dramas, with the danish film A Royal Affair and Bright Star.

All the films were good but the ones I would highly recommend are Lords Of Dogtown, The Dark Knight Rises and A Royal Affair, heck, I will even throw in Magic Mike for the eye candy.

Also how crazy is the Kstew and Robert Pattinson drama this week?! Unbelievable, I feel so bad for him that it's all happened so publicly.

On another note I keep hearing all these opening/closing ceremony rumours about the London Olympics. I must say, the idea of a giant Voldemort and a possible Beatles reunion excites me very much.

Go for gold,
Tori

Biker Gal.

As you can guess from my last post, it has been a busy, stressful and sad week.

But never the less it has not put a stop for my need to shop!

This week I am lusting after a white leather motorbike vest.

I have no idea why, but I just feel the need for one. AND a white one at that!
I'm thinking that it will work well into my summer months wardrobe.

So I have been scouting, I found a few on Topshop, but none that are EXACTLY what I want...

Good style, it's black though. And I really want a white one. I would probably lean more towards this one if we weren't heading out of our colder months. AND I feel like I have a little too much black in my closet (can't believe I am saying that.)

It's white, it's leather, and I like the style.
What's the problem then?
IT HAS THAT HIDEOUS DOLLAR SIGN ON THE BACK THATS WHAT.
Egh, just don't even get me started on it. It angers me just by looking at it.

The style is perfect on this one. Exactly what I wanted, except THE MATERIAL IS DENIM.
Why oh why are you doing this to me Topshop?!
I don't have a problem with it really being denim, its more that I know it is just going to be a BITCH to keep clean.
Oh well, look lets face it, this will probably be the one I will end up purchasing.

If you guys know of any sites that have what I'm looking for, feel free to drop me a comment!

At the moment I am constantly checking the UPS package tracking system to check how far off my new shoes from Solestruck are. I seriously can. not. wait.

I just love the thrill of getting mail - obviously my life is that exciting.

Ride on,
Tori

June Wishlist.

Top: Truly madly deeply shroom muscle top - Urban Outfitters. | Asos March Leather Brouges - Asos. | Piers Atkinson for Asos cartoon eyes pom pom beanie - Asos | We Who See Knot wedge - Urban Outfitters. | Oversized sleeveless biker jacket - Topshop. | Metallic silver shopper - Topshop. | Lace Peter Pan dress in lilac - Topshop. | Flower & Jewel drop earrings - Asos.

So here is a peak of my June wish list, hint, dad.
As you can see I am still lusting after the pale neon yellows.
Absolutely in love with the hawaiian print wedge from Urban Outfitters - I love me a tropical print.

I am thinking, and planning to, dye my hair lilac in the coming weeks, and I keep imagining dressing in a lilac dress to match my new locks, and this one fits the bill perfectly.

I also started a new job the other day! It is doing a bit of online research and it is some good experience. The office is on Smith Street, so I am enjoying exploring the little alleys, cafes and vintage stores!
As I am planning to go away next year, you can understand how the location is not helping my saving efforts!

What are you lusting after this June?

Working Girl.

So the other day I started a new job that will pretty much run all day, everyday, from 9am till 4pm on weekdays. Say "day" one more time.

Anyway, this gave me an excuse to breakout my new silver jumper and floral pants for the occasion.

I will apologise for two things; 1. The crappy photo webcam quality. And 2. It's not a proper full length photo, soz.

Anyway, the jumper was purchased from Jayjay's on sale for $20, hold for gasps of shock, and the pants are from Dotti.
I was very surprised with these two pieces as I do not normally shop in either of those stores.

Can I just note the satisfaction I felt when I purchased my discounted jumper and then found one EXACTLY the same from the store Glue for over $100? Boo. Yah.

I have a DIY in the works for y'all in the coming days to make up for my lack of posts.
I am a bad blogger.

I think I really need to work on a signing out line - Tori.

Under The Sea.

Today my Topshop package finally arrived in the mail! Much excitement was had!

I thought I would share with you my purchases!

Fish tank print by Tea & Cake.

I instantly fell in love with this top when I saw it. I am so into photographic prints at the moment and I loved the colours, so I had to have it.

Love heart crop tee.

I posted about this a few weeks back. After finding I was still lusting over it, into the cart it went.

Flamingo Collar.

It's big. It's gold. It's pink. And it features flamingos, enough said.

Aqua envelope coin purse.

The holographic finish and aqua colour put together reminded me of the 90's. It is also a futuristic version of a 'turquoise envelope.' HA HA HEE HA.

Gold glitter stick.

Look, again, 90's nostalgia was the victim for this.

All up it was a pretty successful order. In love with everything. One of those times when you get new clothing items and you love them so much that it feels as if the only things that exist in your wardrobe are those new items.

Also, how adorable is the tag that came on the fish tank print by Tee & Cake?! It has a recipe for a butter cake on it! so cute!

you guys purchased anything good lately??

SOS ASOS.

I am an avid online shopper. No point in trying to sugar coat it, it gets too hard trying to explain to my mother why there is another package for me waiting at the post office.
Anyway, I recently made a purchase through asos, the excuse being that I needed more clothes for uni, as well as a dress for my cousins wedding, and these items are what I ended up with, after much deliberating that is.

Yes I did purchase the claw ring in both silver AND gold. I thought it was such a beautiful specimen that I must have it in both.

I am going to do another one of these soon, but featuring items from my wish list, see key term; wishlist.

Tomorrow I am seeing Belvoir Street Theatre's production of "The Wild Duck" at Malthouse Theatre Company. I am beyond excited, It has two of my favorite actors in it, Ewen Leslie and Toby Schmitz, so you can understand my friends worry that I may have an aneurism from the excitement and amazingness that I am bound to experience, it is also meant to be phenomenal. Hazzah!

Make a statement statement.

As I said in my past "standing room" post, recently I have gotten a knack for collecting bold statement neckwear. I find they are easy to throw on to glam up any outfit! So I decided to share my favorite ones with you in a quick post.

Top row from left to right: Sportgirl | Lovisa | Sports Girl | Lovisa
Middle row from left to right: Shop in europe | Sportsgirl | Shag Vintage | Lovisa
Bottom row from left to right: Topshop | Modcloth | Shop in Byron Bay | Lovisa

Quick useless story; the one that I have from Shag I actually wore to my valedictory ball late last year!
As you can see I have a quite a few necklaces from the shop Lovisa. I was recently introduced to Lovisa by my friends older sister when we were in sydney! I had never been to one before, as the stores in Melbourne are not in close distance to me, but I must say I loved the stock they had (as you can tell). I found that their pieces were more on trend than say other jewelry chain Diva, and better quality and defiantly not as tacky as we all know Diva can be, which is why I usually avoid it. It was also much cheaper!

In other news, I start at RMIT uni tomorrow! A little nervous, but I figure I should jump in head first!

What are your favorite pieces of jewelry at the moment?!

To market, to market...

For the first time in a long time, I finally got myself down to camberwell market bright and early last sunday to have a look through the stalls.
There was a time I spent basically every sunday morning there, but with VCE last year, that kind of put it on hold for awhile.

Anyway, here are some snaps of my purchases. I am so annoyed as I couldn't find the other ring that is a replica of the YSL "Arty" ring in gold and coral (snagged for $5) for the photos, and of course when I packed away my camera and downloaded the pictures I found it. Oh woe is me.

Pictured: Mary Antoinette wall hanging, $10 | Bag of gold crosses, $5 | Ring, $15

I can't wait to use the crosses for a couple of DIY projects I must say! There was also a Charles and Diana commemorative wedding plate I came across and wanted as soon as I spotted it, but for $35 I decided against it... Kinda regretting it now. I am a sucker for the royals.

Bananas.

As the great Rachel Zoe once said, "that. is. bananas." The term caught on, and a catch phrase was born for the great celebrity stylist.

Pictured: Milk & Honey "Bananarama" dress & Banksy's "Wall & Piece".

I have once reflected my>past trouble with fruit themed pieces on here, not knowing how to style them, however, when I recently spotted this amazing "Bananarama" by Milk & Honey on a mannequin in Myer, I turned to Georgie, having surveyed the 1950's rockabilly style, the pale blue and yellow colour combination and Jeremy Scott style print and said, "Oh my god, I need that dress." A frantic search broke out between the two of us trying to locate said dress in The Basement, until we spotted it hanging on a hanger across the room, the last one left.
Cautiously we approached the dress, I tried to prepare myself for disappointment incase the last one was not my size. Slowly I removed the item from the rack and peaked at the size tag, the stars must have alined for me that day, as it was my size and it fit perfectly! Hazzah! It is fair to say that I am in love.

Pictured: Banksy's "Wall & Piece" purchased from General Pants Co.

I also picked up renowned street artist Banksy's book "Wall & Piece" (Ha Ha Banksy, nice play on words there, why you so cleaver?). I recently purchased another book "Banksy myths and legends" and watched his film, "Exit Through The Gift Shop", and I got to say he is one very very cleaver and fascinating man. I know one of the main things about him is the whole anonymous thing, but his work is so intelligent and honest, and to be frank, he is funny as fuck. I wish to be friends with the man.
If you haven't read his book or seen his film, I highly recommend getting on that. Or if you don't even know him, look him up! NOW!

Anyway, I finally finished and photographed my DIY jewelry stand, so be expecting a post on that in the near future.

until next time chickens!

Lucy In Disguise.

I may be a little slow on the uptake here, but I was recently at David Jones in the city when I came across the Lucy In Disguise range that they were carrying. I thought it was in genius, the whole idea of dresses inspired by different eras, but still with a modern twist.

Pictured: part of the Lucy in Disguise range.

Pictured: part of the Lucy in Disguise range.

In particularly I fell in love with the "Chaplin" dress (pictured below), inspired by the 1920's. The mixture of black and gold, the sequins, the black see through material, THE SEQUINED BOW TIE!!11!!1! I was sold. I have decided I need this dress, my entire being will not be complete without it, and I know my dreams are going to be haunted by it. It will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.

Pictured: Lucy In Disguise "Chaplin" dress.

I
n other news, I went and enrolled at RMIT for my uni corse the other day. It was good, although my ID card picture looks ridiculous. I then met up with my friend Georgie and shopped around the city, I ended up picking up a sweet as Milk & Honey dress with a banana print all over it (awesome) and Banksy's book "Wall and Piece" (double awesome).
I also have a DIY jewelry stand project in the works at the moment, I will be sure to update you all once I am finished with it!

Really Regretful Retail.

See my use of alliteration as a attention grabbing device there? Good one Tori.
So the other day I was having a conversation with my friend Georgie about purchases we have regretted. Both avid shoppers, I was reflecting with her on a recent Asos purchase that I deemed would either be a "hit" or "miss", being a floral suit.

Picture: discussed floral suit. FYI - it is fab.

The conversation then led to us discussing past purchases, that which after we clicked the "add to basket" button, entered our credit card details, and received our packages, we found ourselves wondering; ""why on earth did I buy this?"
It so happened that both of our retail regrets were in the style of foot wear; every woman's weakness.
Georgie reflected on her impulse purchase of a pair of brown Doc Marten hiking boots, something that seemed essential at the time and would be a feature staple in her wardrobe.

Pictured: Georgie's impulse purchase.

The shoes still remain untouched, at the bottom of her closet. Much like my Jeffrey Campbell "Fruitbowl" shoes.

Don't get me wrong, I have a taste for slightly quirky and wonderful footwear. I like to think that if I died in a sudden freak accident, my shoes could be put on display somewhere for everyone to marvel at. So I think that goes to say that not all of my foot wear purchases are the most practical. So having seen the beautiful "Bananas is my business" fruit featured shoes by Charlotte Olympia, and then consequently having all my hopes of owning this shoe slashed when I saw the price. So I tried to forget and move on.

Pictured: The original "Bananas is my business" shoes by Charlotte Olympia.

That was, of course, before one Mr. Jeffrey Campbell, introduced me to the similar, but cost effective, "Fruitbowl". I remember seeing them and needing the instantly. I pined for these babys and dreamed about them. I had to have them. The wooded wedge, the clear persplex and fruit detail; tacky, but beautiful. I had to purchase them. And purchase them I did.

Picture: The offending "Fruitbowl" by Jeffrey Campbell shoes.

Look, I am not saying that I regret buying them, its just more I have no idea how to wear them. And so they have remained hidden... under my bed... where no one may ever see them.

Look, they say every dog has its day, but their day, is just not today.

Geek Out.

Yes, I am a self proclaimed theatre nerd and all around awkward/goofy person. And yes, that does mean that on a recent trip to Lorne, located on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, I dragged my friend into a second hand book store to look at the play section.
To be honest, it had never occurred to me that upon often being disappointed at the range of plays on offer at your regular bookstore (Dymocks, I am looking at you), that perhaps there was a gold mine of a book shop just around the corner, in the form of the ye odle Second hand bookshop.

And mine for gold I did, for entering the book shop on a whim of spotting it, we dashed into the store, rather I dashed and my friend wandered, and headed straight to the play section, and EUREKA! I spotted the name "BRECHT" and knew I hit the jackpot. So much to to my friends dismay that I spotted a new by ladder and started climbing it to get a better look on what was on offer. I stayed on that ladder for half an hour, "Ooh"ing and "ahhh"ing over all of the titles. Walking away with 8 in total. I was a very satisfied girl for the rest of the day - and so was my wallet.
It is a wonder that I paid little more than $5 dollars for each title. I cant WAIT to head to my local second hand book store to see what they have on offer.
